FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS EXTERIOR INSULATION:
>What Insulation type would be best for my house?
“The thing with Insulation is ‘one size does not fit all’!
Each and every house will have different requirements and varying levels of existing insulation and therefore will require different solutions depending on a number of factors. This is why it is so important to do the initial survey and talk to you to determine your needs and come up with a plan of action that works for you and your home.

>What is involved in External all Insulation?
External Wall Insulation is a process where we wrap your home in what we like to call an ‘insulation blanket’. When using external wall insulation to insulate your home, we effectively add a new insulated ‘skin’ to the exterior of your home. It offers by far the simplest and most reliable solution for improved insulation performance

>How long does it take?
Each project is assessed on an individual basis. The project time can vary depending on the type of home you have and the specific work required to offer you the best solution. It will naturally take a little longer to insulate a two-storey home in comparison to a bungalow. Generally speaking the process of exterior insulation can usually be completed from start to finish in less than 3 weeks. It is not advisable to rush this particular type of Insulation as elements of the system need specific time periods to ‘set & dry’.

>Is External Wall Insulation very intrusive or messy?
No, not at all, this is the great thing about external wall insulation; the whole process takes place ‘outside’ of your living environment, so we will not intrude on your privacy. You can read more about it here on our website www.warmwraphomes.ie.

>How long does it take to install?
This would depend on how many rooms you are insulating. The great thing about Dry Lining is it can be done in stages. This can be a great way to ‘update’ your home and Insulate all at the same time! This also means you can control your costs with a plan designed to suit your budget as you can do one room at a time. You can read more on our Dry Lining Insulation page.

>What Kind of insulation grants are available in Ireland?
There are currently a number of Insulation grants available in Ireland, provided by Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland. The grant amount varies with house type so there are different levels of assistance available. Please see our Insulation Grants page for further details or get in touch for advice on how best to apply.

>How do I apply, or does the contractor do this?
The home-owner needs to do this, however we will guide you through this if you would like to get in touch. There are 2 ways of applying for Insulation Grants. You can do this online or you can apply by posting an application form. If you apply online you will get a much faster response rate. Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland response time for online applications is 3 working days as oppose to about 20 working days with postal applications.

>My House is freezing how can I heat it without spending a fortune?
The most important thing any home owner can do is to get a surveyor who can identify heat leaks in your home. Once all the heat leaks are identified, a process of insulating the house can be put in place according to priorities and budgets. I would also advise you to check your Attic Insulation as this can be one of the quickest ways to insulate your home.
